BCS Championship Game Graphics
Larger than life imagery of players in motion to demonstrate strength and heroism

Tournament of Roses 2001 - 2010
SPD was selected among dozens of design firms to develop the imagery and collateral communication system for the Tournament of Roses each year since 2001. SPD draws inspiration from a chosen theme every year. Themes range from celebrating the diversity of America, the universal symbol of “good times” – a smile, to the whimsical aspirations of a child. Design elements include commemorative posters, press kit folders, stationary, game and parade tickets, pins and programs. SPD has also developed several marketing collateral pieces to recruit sponsorship for events based on the Tournament’s rich history as well as their celebratory spirit.

Looking towards the press box at the Rose Bowl for the BCS Championship Game.
Selbert Perkins Design, the design firm that created the LAX Gateway glass pylon project, developed all the interior and exterior graphics for the BCS Championship Game tonight. In partnership with the Tournament of Roses for 11 years, the design firm also designed the game tickets, programs, credentials, VIP cards, etc.
The designers wanted to use larger than life imagery of players in motion to demonstrate strength and heroism. The players are shown in black and white against a full color background of the American flag in motion. Since football is an American game, they added the background of the flag to reflect this unique American experience.
And it should be an experience to see the thawed out Texas Longhorn and Alabama Crimson Tide fans at the Rose Bowl. You know how those wacky Texans and southerners love their football teams. Face paint, bbq, the whole works. It should be an amazing sight in Pasadena tonight.
As for the game, having more than a month to mull it over I still don't know. Theoretically the Tide should roll the Longhorns out of the Rose Bowl. But the Tide looked really mediocre at points during the season before absolutely dominating the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship Game.
Meanwhile the Longhorns were just outgunning teams left and right until the Big 12 Championship Game when they met Ndamukong Suh and the Nebraska defense.
